Location
The house rests on its own grounds looking out at the spectacular Galtee Mountains right in the heart of the Glen of Aherlow. Conveniently located just outside Tipperary town it is a one hour drive to either Cork City or Limerick City. There are many amenities in the area from horse riding to hill walking and some fabulous pubs in the local village of Bansha only 5 minutes away.
Aherlow Castle was originally built in 1805 . The house was bought as a ruin in 2003 by the current owners Freda and Declan Roche. Freda's family lived in Aherlow Castle from 1949 to 1955 so its was a life long dream of her's to restore the house and make it a family home again. The restoration was completed in 2008. In the local area the house is very much a hidden treasure, concealed by the surrounding forest, so as to create a haven for peace and quiet. For a number of years the castle has hosted weekend retreats including Satsang and Art Therapy courses.
